William Cho is President and CEO of LG Electronics USA, a position he has held since January 2014.
In this role – as the corporation’s most senior executive in the Western Hemisphere – Cho provides strategic direction for LG Electronics activities in the United States, encompassing home entertainment products, home appliances, mobile phones, and air conditioning & energy solutions, as well as related service and support activities.
Cho is a seasoned executive with broad experience leading sales subsidiaries and managing complex business units around the world. Early in his career, after joining LG Electronics in 1987, he acquired business insights on innovation and strategy as a key member of the Corporate Strategy Development team.
His eight years of experience in Europe (1992-2000) included product management responsibility in Germany for four years, giving him a vast understanding of the market dynamics in developed countries. Cho was named “LG Man of the Year” by corporate headquarters.
As the leader of LG’s home appliance overseas business strategy (2000-02) Cho contributed to LG’s rapid globalization through strategic alliances, while enlarging LG’s competencies and global presence.
His previous extensive experience in North America included serving as the regional leader for the North American air conditioner business (2003-04) and President of LG Electronics USA’s OEM appliance business (2005).
From 2006-09, he served as President of LG Canada, with broad responsibility across all business units. While leading LG’s Canadian operations, he was honored with a special commendation from the Prime Minister and was named Canadian Marketer of the Year.
After serving as President of LG Australia from 2010-11, he was promoted to President of LG’s global residential air conditioning business, a position he held from 2011-13.
Cho earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Busan University and his masters degree in business administration from the Yonsei University graduate school in Korea.
